Position Description

The graphic design internship is a three-month remote position that will start immediately upon hire. This position is designed to be a learning experience for the intern who should be recently out of school. The commitment is five days a week via Zoom. The ideal candidate would be comfortable with diverse media including print, digital, and spatial graphic design. Our studio environment is ideal for close collaboration and provides an opportunity for leadership and initiative. We emphasize a context where good ideas and work are respected and implemented. Additionally, the designer should have a passion for improving visual culture by shaping a narrative of inclusion.

—BFA in Graphic Design or equivalent
—Sensitive, soulful approach to content
—Exceptional type, color, and composition skills
—Obsessive attention to detail
—Experience in print, digital, and spatial design
—Comfort with Adobe Creative Suite and Figma
—Desire to rethink what design could be
—Facility with illustration and/or motion graphics

Responsibilities

—Sketch concepts by hand and in Adobe programs
—Prepare benchmark and concept presentations
—Offer critique, new ideas, and research to further design concepts
—Create custom typography and artwork
—Design exhibition, print, and digital layouts

Studio Description

Isometric is a graphic design and architecture consultancy based in New York City. We work on branding, print, digital, and exhibition projects for major institutional and hospitality clients including IKEA, the Museum of the City of New York, Columbia Engineering, Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum, Google, National Black Theatre, and Yale Peabody Museum. In particular, the studio creates visual identities and physical spaces that advance an ethic of inclusion, focusing on the voices of underrepresented or marginalized populations.
